Erin Huybrechts Davis
I've always been a painter for as long as I can remember. I was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia and then earned a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Painting and Printmaking. From there I traveled to India, Nepal and Peru before returning to Virginia to get a master's degree in education from Virginia Tech. From there I finally settled down in Longmont, Colorado and I have lived here for the past few years.
I have been painting for craft fairs and have sold original art, prints and cards at Colorado handmade markets such as the Firefly Handmade Market, The Sugarplum Bazaar, and the Horseshoe Market. The maker's markets have opened up a whole world for me of encouraging creative people, inspiration, and a venue for me to show my work that is neither a traditional gallery or a publication. My art seems to spring from this movement and I am so honored to be a part of such an inspiring group of people.
Artist Statement (Written by my lovely husband):
Erin Huybrechts-Davis has been an artist her entire life. A wanderer, traveler, philosopher and naturalist, Erin has a constant stream of new ideas for producing works of art. Born in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia, and now residing in Colorado, the mountains and woods have served as a constant source of inspiration. Majority of Erin’s artworks contain elements of nature; animals, plants, weather, and ecosystems.
Erin is an artist in a holistic sense; while painting is her primary focus as an artist, she also is an illustrator, potter, and teacher. Erin lives in Longmont with her husband and two young children. Her studio space is in her home where she enjoys spending time painting each day. Erin’s paintings are made with acrylic and spray paint on board with recycled wooden frames.
